How long have you worked for the company?

I’ve worked for the company since April 1988.

Describe working here in 3 words

Journey, pioneer, family.

What does your day-to-day role involve?

I’m the General Manager of our Strategy & Planning Division.

From April 2021, we are aiming to transform our business with Mitsubishi Chemical branding and a more integrated culture as Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates. This is our new start and our mission.

What has your training and development been like?

I was given the opportunity to learn HR in the USA in 1994 while I was working for the HR department in Japan. Those three years were my first foreign assignment and were a life-changing event.

Since then, the company has given me various opportunities to pave the way for the new challenges.

How would you describe the environment and culture?

Because of the history of our Methacrylates Division, many of us have been through various experiences. Sometimes, we explore new opportunities like trailblazers. Other times, we find new friends in foreign colleagues. People here have great capacity to enjoy our diversified global business environment.

I’m based in Japan and the working environment here is changing dramatically because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working remotely has become almost standard, which is favorable for us to communicate across borders more flexibly.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

I enjoy working with people from different countries and cultures. I feel that those experiences make my career and life more meaningful. It even has a good influence on my family life.

What advice would you give someone applying to work here?

We are always looking for people to take on new opportunities in new places and with new partners. While the business environment is changing and innovation is essential, we must keep upgrading ourselves. The question is whether you’d like to join this journey!
